It was a day to connect, discuss, learn, and engage as the African Sport Centre’s AfroSport 2022 summit came to life in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday.

From clubs, federations, businesses, academia, athletes, coaches, to media and more, it was indeed a rich gathering of various personalities within the sport value chain in Africa and beyond.

The event, to be held annually, was supported by the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Spanish LaLiga, Stats Perform Opta, VALD Performance and the Johan Cruyff Institute.

“We hope that this experience does not only enhance learning, knowledge exchange and business, but also importantly serves as an annual connecting ground for networking and facilitation of collaboration for the diverse members of the sport value chain,” AfroSport CEO Prince Narkortu Teye said in his welcome address.

Former CAF deputy general secretary and found and general secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, Anthony Baffoe, who presented a Special Guest’s address, congratulated AfroSport organisers for the initiative, while urging the ASC to also focus on the after-value of the event.

Unlike the maiden summit which lasted for just a day, the 2023 edition of AfroSport will be a two-day event.
