Internship Opportunity: Graphic Designer

ASC Afro Group is looking for a brand focused Graphic Designer to join our team on an internship period of six months. This is a part-time, remote and non-paying role but the selected candidate will receive monthly allowance in compensation for internet data and other resources spent while working in the position. He/she will be expected to work for up to five hours per week but must be flexible to work outside of these hours on occasion, including on weekends if required.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in design across digital, print, and motion., with work portfolio to show. You should be an outstanding design talent and a passionate conceptual thinker with great branding expertise. You should have an entrepreneurial drive, take initiative and truly view yourself as a strong leader. You should have passion for creating inspiring, clear, beautiful, and contemporary work that pushes all ASC brands to new heights.

This role will work closely with the Content Management, Social Media, Events, Publicity and Marketing teams to develop content and campaigns that will help us hit our business goals and further brand awareness. This role should provide direction and leadership to the creative team, communicate effectively to internal/external stakeholders, bring unconventional forward thinking ideas, and be hands-on with creation.

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Branding or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a visual design role or similar, with portfolio of work to show
  • Strong understanding of brand development and integrated marketing campaigns
  • Experience in developing graphic identities, branding packages, collateral, editorial layout and packaging
  • Excellent creative instincts with a solid understanding of design, photography, typography, and layouts
  • Strong time management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Excels under pressure and can maintain a calm demeanour at all times.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Highly organised, collaborative and ability to take initiatives
  • Must be a good team player
  • Must be willing to work for up to five hours per week but must be flexible to work outside of these hours on occasion, including on weekends if required.
  • Strong video editing and production skills an advantage
  • Must have attention to detail
